About Chef Kim Schiffer
Kim
Schiffer has cooked professionally for 29 years. Her roots in
Louisiana germinated the seeds for passionate cooking and flavors.
After graduating with a degree in Fine Art, she has used cooking
as
her main form of artistic expression. She worked in sales and
marketing for a wholesale herb company, directed the cooking school
at Alfalfa’s Market in Boulder, Colorado; owned a healthy
prepared
food delivery service called Fresh! Foods; and developed recipes
for
Quinoa Corporation.
Kim managed the kitchen for Fairview Garden’s Celebrity Chef and worked along such world-class chefs as John Ash (From the Earth to the Table), Debra Madison (Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone), Judy Rodgers (The Zuni Café Cookbook), Suzanne Goin (Sunday Suppers at Lucques) and Michael Tusk (from Quince Restaurant in San Francisco).
Recently she has studied and cooked in Italy and Morocco and in California at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Zuni Café in San Francisco and Quince Restaurant in San Francisco.
She cooked with Benedetta Vitali at Zibibo Restaurant in Florence, Italy.
For the past 10 years Kim has been an integral part of the Santa Barbara City College Adult Education Program. She is a private chef and caterer for the past 15 years and is passionate about local, seasonal, and organic foods. She infuses every class with this commitment and enthusiasm.
She has opened a cooking school in Andalucia region of Spain and leads culinary adventure tours there.
